If there’s one thing we’re feeling now more than ever, it’s that community is everything. Our communities help us find moments of hope, peace, and even joy while we’re living in a time of such uncertainty. As members of the Class of 2020 prepare to graduate, we’re coming together to celebrate all they have accomplished and officially welcome them to our alumni community.

What do you want to say to the Class of 2020? You could share advice, perhaps something you wish you knew as a recent graduate, words of encouragement, or simply congratulations.

Post your message on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook using the hashtags #WeAreHarvard and #Harvard20—and tag @harvardalumni! We’ll be collecting, retweeting, and sharing everything we see.

If you want to share your message as a video, here are a few additional tips:

  • Introduce yourself. Share your name, School, and class year.
  • Keep it short and sweet. See if you can keep your message to 30 seconds or less.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Keep your background simple and try to record your video in a quiet place.
  • Make it festive! Perhaps you have a fascinator or rosette handy, some Harvard gear, or a touch of Crimson!

Stuck on what to say? Here are a few questions to get you started:

  • Think back to your own graduation from Harvard, what would you have wanted to hear from alumni?
  • When is a time you felt welcomed and included in a new community? What did other community members say to make you feel that way?
  • What did you wish you knew as a recent graduate?

Together, we can show our newest graduates that they have the support of the 370,000-strong Harvard alumni community, especially during this challenging and unprecedented time.
