To host or join a Teleparty (Netflix Party), you and your friends need access to a Netflix account and a Google Chrome browser. Follow these instructions below to get your party set up.
Go to the Teleparty website (www.netflixparty.com) in your Google Chrome browser.
Click on the “Get Teleparty for Free" button.
You will be directed to the Google Web Store, where you must click on the “Add to Chrome” button and then “add extension” button. After you add the extension you should see an “Tp” icon at the top of your Google Chrome browser toolbar.
After you’ve installed the extension, you should go to your Netflix account and select the movie or TV show you will watch.
Once you’ve chosen the movie or TV show you want to watch, click on the Tp icon at the top of your Google Chrome browser.
Click on the “Start the Party” button and Netflix will generate a shareable link. Select “Only I Have Control” option.
Send the shareable link to your RSVP list and wait for your guests to sign in. Please make sure to tell your guests that they need to click on the red Tp icon to join a party after clicking on your party invite link.
Then you can begin the show.
Managing Your Teleparty (Netflix Party)
Unfortunately, you cannot generate a shareable link that remains active after you log out of your Netflix account. Every time you log into Netflix and start the party, a new shareable link is generated. You will need to create and send the shareable link around the start time of your event.
Send instructions on how to join the Teleparty well in advance of the event to your guest list. Your guests need to be prepared to receive the shareable link right before you start the party.
For large events, you may want to do a practice run to make sure you are comfortable with managing the Teleparty.
