Dr Erol Barbur is a surgical doctor focusing on gastrointestinal surgery, clinical research, and undergraduate medical education. He most recently served as a Junior Clinical Fellow in Surgery at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London, one of the world’s first cancer hospitals, rotating within the Surgical Oncology Departments. Dr Barbur previously practised as a Core Trainee Doctor in General Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2023, where he was nominated for the University of Oxford Medical School Teacher of the Year Award. He has extensive experience facilitating workshops at medical conferences, particularly in medical simulation. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Medical School’s Foundations of Clinical Research 2022 program, where he was elected as the graduation speaker for his cohort and invited to serve as a board member for the Harvard Club of Turkey. As an author and contributor to numerous peer-reviewed research articles, Dr Barbur has received recognition from esteemed organisations, including an “Honourable Mention” from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the “Emergency Medicine Internship Intern Doctor of the Year Award” from the Emergency Physicians Association of Turkey.
