Trip Overview
Explore the dynamic intersection of politics, culture, and cuisine on this nine-day journey through Mexico City and Oaxaca. Begin in the capital with curator-led visits to world-class museums, including Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, the Museo Nacional de Antropología, and the Museo Dolores Olmedo, set alongside walks through the historic Zócalo, Coyoacán, and Polanco. Engage directly with Mexico’s political life and social movements through conversations with human rights advocates and a journalist-led discussion of the country’s evolving political landscape, and trace the legacy of Mexican muralism in the city’s iconic public art and contemporary street murals. Savor inspired regional cuisine at carefully selected restaurants across the city, then fly to Oaxaca, where you’ll delve into the region’s extraordinary Indigenous diversity, exploring villages renowned for alebrijes, black clay pottery, and naturally dyed textiles. A walking tour of Oaxaca’s UNESCO-listed historic center, a visit to the Zapotec metropolis of Monte Albán, and tastings of heirloom corn dishes and mezcal round out a program that illuminates Mexico’s past and present through its art, ideas, and unforgettable flavors.
