I am retired and live in Carpinteria. Among other interests, housing crisis in US, esp in California.
Looking for new ways to think about this issue. The old model of government, subsidized rental housing for low income and private financing for middle and higher income (both rental and home ownership) no longer works. In my town, with its 13,000 population, we are a great example of housing market dysfunction. A household income of $120,000 qualifies it for subsidized rental housing. Young professionals (including recent Harvard grads) who might be physicians and attorneys, cannot afford to live here -- they earn too much to qualify for subsidized rentals but not enough to afford a house ofr a condo with a mortgage. We prize our economic diversity, but it is fast disappearing.

I'm retired from primary care, most of my work has been with underserved populations. My curiosity and some running injuries have led me to learn about Feldenkreiss, Pilates, and Korean Hand Therapy (reflexology and non-needle acupuncture). I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills to help and teach people (not just patients) some applications of the above as well as some simple stretches to quickly relax neck and back tension. I enjoyed creating a practical education handout to simplify managing a diabetic low carb diet. I'd like to learn about self-publishing, and creating a website to be a resource for people. I'm also passionate about promoting enjoyable, diverse, inexpensive community concerts through the Lompoc Concert Association. Been here 20 years now and still learning more each year about better gardening. Wonderful Mediterranean climate here. I do not do much with social media after receiving many unsolicited fishy texts and emails.

My company specializes in modular 'off-site' construction. I live in Ojai and Venice and work in both regions. It would be wonderful to connect with other Harvard alumni in Santa Barbara or Ojai - I was a Loeb Fellow at the GSD. Please reach out to me at info@designmobile.com
