Trip Overview

Discover the dynamic intersection of leadership, justice, and resilience during this immersive five-day journey through Miami—a global gateway city at the forefront of change. From thought-provoking sessions with civic leaders to deep dives into the city's rich cultural tapestry, you'll explore critical themes including social equity, immigrant rights, and environmental justice.

Schedule by Day

Your journey begins in the heart of Miami Beach with a warm welcome and orientation at the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club. Set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, we’ll frame the week with a powerful opening session titled “A City on the Edge – Global Challenges, Local Solutions.” This session will explore Miami’s role as a global gateway for leadership in equity, resilience, and systemic change. Featuring civic leaders—we'll contextualize Miami’s urgent challenges and responses. The evening offers space for reflection, connection, and grounding in themes that will guide the transformational journey ahead.

Overnight: Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club (North Beach)

Delve into Miami’s rich and complex history through the lens of race, power, and community resilience. We begin downtown with an immersive historical experience at HistoryMiami Museum, followed by a walking tour of Little Havana, led by notable scholars. In the afternoon, we will visit Little Haiti for an interactive experience at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, where arts, identity, and advocacy intersect. Our day culminates with a dynamic panel discussion featuring community leaders, educators, and local officials addressing issues of social justice across Miami’s historically marginalized neighborhoods. This day reveals how the city’s past still shapes its present—and how today’s advocates are paving the path to a more equitable future.

Overnight: Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club (North Beach)

Meals: B, L, D

Explore the stories, struggles, and strengths of Miami’s immigrant and refugee communities—core to the city’s identity and vibrancy. We begin the day with on-the-ground engagement at the Miami Workers Center and SMASH (Smash the Slumlords), learning how grassroots movements address housing justice and systemic inequality. From there, we’ll visit Camillus House, a hub for community-based services, where organizations such as the International Rescue Committee will join us for a thoughtful panel on refugee resettlement, immigrant rights, and belonging. In the evening, we head to Wynwood for a guided walk through the iconic Walls, using public art as a canvas for reflection on identity, resistance, and leadership in action.

Overnight: Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club (North Beach)

Meals: B, L

Conclude your immersion with a deep dive into one of Miami’s most pressing challenges: climate change and coastal vulnerability. We’ll set sail on a floating panel hosted by SeaKeepers and local marine scientists, exploring how sea-level rise, marine ecosystems, and equitable design converge in one of the world’s most climate-threatened cities. With perspectives from marine biologists, environmental justice advocates, and urban planners, this session offers a multidimensional look at the future of coastal cities. In the afternoon, we reconvene for a collaborative wrap-up session, where travelers will convey key insights from the week and map out pathways for leadership and impact in their own communities.
