Professor Giribet studies how invertebrate animals, like insects and mollusks, have evolved and spread across the world over time. He uses both genetic information from museum specimens and physical features from living and extinct creatures to track these changes. While much of his work is focused on animals like arthropods and mollusks, he also explores many other fascinating groups, such as velvet worms and other less well-known invertebrates.
In addition to invertebrate biology, he teaches courses on tropical biology, biogeography, and systematics (the scientific study of the diversity of organisms and their relationships, particularly through classification).
