This Is a Past Event

Beethoven’s Ninth is among the best-known pieces in the world, and its “Ode to Joy” has been used for all sorts of purposes, good and less good. But there was a time when nobody knew it, nobody had heard it. This talk presented by Professor Thomas Kelly will consider what it was like to be in Vienna in May of 1824, and attend Mr. Beethoven’s concert to hear his latest symphony.
