After a year of remote, hybrid, and altogether disrupted learning, we’re starting to envision a more-typical fall. But instead of going back to “normal,” how should schools look different? The pandemic revealed many of the failings of our current system — the effects of huge wealth gaps, the stifling effects of one-size-fits-all learning — but it also showcased some of the things that work: relationships and the time to build them; creativity, new solutions, and the room to innovate; new scheduling flexibility; and a new understanding of the essential role of teachers.
In short, we are seeing the potential for human-centered innovation in our response to COVID-19 and the ongoing education crisis. How can we build on these positives? How can we learn the right lessons from this challenging year?
Join Harvard professor Jal Mehta for a conversation on the future of schooling, how the pandemic is re-shaping education, and how we can move towards a more holistic and relationship-centered model of education, where deeper learning can thrive.
