Join the alumni YouTube livestream to hear from Clinical Professor of Law Sabi Ardalan JD '02 and Assistant Clinical Professor of Law Phil Torrey. Over the last several years, the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program has sought to shed light on the government’s use of solitary confinement in immigration detention. Recently, the Program won a major lawsuit that required the government to hand over public records detailing its extensive use of solitary confinement. Despite numerous internal policies and directives cautioning that solitary confinement should be used only as a last resort, government records indicate that it is being used extensively at immigration detention facilities around the country. In this session, the speakers will delve into their research and advocacy on behalf of clients concerning the use of solitary confinement in immigration detention.
This program is coordinated through the Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning (VPAL) and will be livestreamed to the alumni community in collaboration with the Harvard Alumni Association.
