Data Use Disclosure

The Harvard Alumni Association takes the responsible use of your information very seriously. When you provide information for your Class Report, you consent to the collection, transfer, processing, storage, disclosure and other uses of your Class Report information as described below.

Data in the Class Report may include contact information, Harvard class affiliation, education history, employment history, personal interests, family relationships, and other information that you choose to provide.

Data you provide with your Class Report may be shared within Harvard for purposes such as research and analysis, and to help provide you with relevant marketing, engagement, and philanthropic opportunities.

Biographical data submitted for inclusion in your Class Report may be made available to other alumni, alumni clubs or special interest groups and other alumni organizations, faculty, staff, and students, subject to the alumni information privacy settings you have chosen for your online alumni profile. These data uses are intended to facilitate inter-alumni communication, as well as communication between the College and its alumni.

The Class Report books, including your class report, are made available to members of the respective College classes and University Archives. Class Report books from 2021 and earlier are in the collections of the Boston Public Library, the New York Public Library, New England Genealogical Society, and the Library of Congress. In addition, Class Report books may be ordered by members of “neighboring classes” who lived on campus at the same time. For example, the 50th Anniversary Report for the Class of 1974 was available to members of the Classes of 1972, 1973, 1975, and 1976.

Finally, we may share Class Report data if necessary for taking action regarding fraud, unlawful or criminal activity, other misconduct, security or technical issues, or unauthorized access to or use of personal data or our website or data systems; responding to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; enforcing our agreements; protecting the health, safety, rights or property of you, us, or others; and meeting legal obligations.

We do not share Class Report data except as described above. Harvard will not use your information beyond these stated purposes. We do not authorize other uses by anyone of information obtained from the Class Report books, whether commercial in nature or otherwise (including sale, solicitation, promotion, market research, surveying, etc.). However, when you decide what information to provide in your Class Report, please be aware that, despite our policies limiting re-use, it is not possible for Harvard to prevent or control all reproduction and dissemination of Class Report information by third parties, including but not limited to third-party websites, services, applications, businesses, or private individuals.
