ZAHRA AGA KHAN AB ’94

Princess Zahra Aga Khan AB ’94 is a member of the board of directors of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of development agencies that work to improve the welfare and prospects of people in over 30 countries around the world, particularly in Asia and Africa. She has policy and management responsibility for the health, education, and planning and building services companies of the AKDN and their institutions, working in 12 countries in the developing world. She is also involved in policy and strategy matters relating to the other development institutions of the AKDN.
Princess Zahra has worked within the AKDN since graduating from Harvard College in 1994. She is a trustee of the Aga Khan University, sits on the board of the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance, and works with various institutions supported by the Ismaili Muslim community in the areas of social and economic development.
Princess Zahra attended Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland and received an AB cum laude in development studies from Harvard College. She also completed a four-month program at Massachusetts General Hospital to enhance her understanding of health care systems and the delivery of advanced medical care, as well as an executive finance course at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Apostle Folorunso Alakija is the vice chairman of FAMFA Oil Limited, her family's oil exploration and production business; Dayspring Property Development Company Limited, with both local and international real estate investments; and Digital Reality Print Limited, recognized as one of the topmost printing companies in Nigeria for its world-class deliverables.
Her interests are specifically focused on education, widows’ and orphans’ rights, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy.
In 2008, she founded the Rose of Sharon Foundation, a not-for-profit organization for widows, their families, and orphans. They empower their beneficiaries through entrepreneurial training, zero-interest loans, and educational scholarships. She also does personal philanthropic work for the less privileged.
She founded Flourish Africa in 2017, a nonprofit conceived to provide women with a platform to share knowledge and encourage one another to achieve their potential. In 2022, the organization embarked on providing business training to 500 female business owners and financial grants to 100 female entrepreneurs annually to boost their businesses. She is nationally and internationally acclaimed in recognition of all her philanthropic endeavors.
She oversees the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International, a nondenominational Christian ministry with a unique vision to uphold marriages towards effective nation-building.
She is the first woman to be appointed as chancellor of a public university in Africa and has served Nigeria as a member of several committees. She also represented FAMFA as a member of the board of CACOVID, a private sector initiative formed to support the Nigerian Government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 crisis in Nigeria.
Alakija serves in different capacities in numerous organizations registered both in Nigeria and abroad. These include African Young Entrepreneurs (AYE) as the chief executive matron and the Junior Chambers International (JCI) as an ambassador.
She also sits as an advisory board member of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and the Harvard Center of African Studies. She supports the annual Folorunso Alakija Religion and Public Life Lecture Series, cohosted by the Harvard Center for African Studies.
She is a prolific writer and has authored 17 inspirational books, including her two autobiographies.
TERESITA ALVAREZ-BJELLAND AB ’76, MBA ’79

Teresita Alvarez-Bjelland AB ’76, MBA ’79 is an independent consultant and professional board member residing in Oslo, Norway. Her interests are specifically focused on education, cultural exchange, and human rights. She established and runs a nonprofit counseling bureau to advise students applying to universities in the U.K. and U.S. Her affiliations include tenures on the boards of directors of the Norwegian American Foundation in Oslo and Freedom Now in Washington, D.C. She also serves on the Nordic Council of the UWC (United World College)—Red Cross Nordic, on the advisory board for the Kistefos Public Service Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School, and is the co-chair of the Cuban Studies Program Advisory Group at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University. Alvarez-Bjelland has been recognized by numerous areas of the University, receiving the Radcliffe Distinguished Service Award, the Hiram S. Hunn Award from the Harvard College Admissions Office, the HAA Award, and the 2019 Harvard Medal, bestowed in recognition of extraordinary service to the University.
Before turning her energy to the nonprofit sector, Alvarez-Bjelland held executive management positions with Estée Lauder, Bates Advertising, and Johnson Wax.
JOSEPH Y. BAE AB ’94

Joseph Y. Bae AB ’94 is the co-president and co-chief operating officer of KKR. He joined KKR in 1996. Most recently, he was the managing partner of KKR Asia and the global head of KKR’s Infrastructure and Energy Real Asset businesses. He is the chairman of KKR’s Asia and Americas Private Equity Investment Committees and also serves as a member of KKR’s European Private Equity, Growth Equity, Energy, Infrastructure, Real Estate, and Special Situations Investment Committees. He is also a member of KKR’s Risk Management Committee and Inclusion and Diversity Council.
Bae is co-chair of Harvard’s Asia-Pacific Campaign Committee and a member of the Campaign Steering Committee for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He serves as a charter trustee at Phillips Academy Andover. He is also a board member of the Asia Society and Lincoln Center.
Bae graduated from Phillips Academy Andover in 1990 and received an AB magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1994.

HAKEEM BELO-OSAGIE MBA ’80

Hakeem Belo-Osagie is a well-respected Nigerian entrepreneur with a track record of leading and backing highly successful private investments in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. Belo-Osagie is the chairman of the board of FSDH Holding Company Ltd., which includes among its holdings a merchant bank, an asset management company, a pension fund administration company, and a securities trading company. Belo-Osagie chairs the board of Chocolate City Group, a leading entertainment conglomerate in Nigeria. He was recently appointed an Expert Global Advisor and member of the International Advisory Group of Equinor, the Norwegian energy company previously known as Statoil. He is also the main stakeholder in and chair of the board of Duval Properties Ltd., a real estate company engaged in a mixed-use development in Abuja, Nigeria. He is a member of both the Global Board of Advisors for the Council on Foreign Relations and the International Advisory Council of the Brookings Institute. Additionally, he serves as chairman of the board of trustees of the Harvard University Center for African Studies. For the past two years, Belo-Osagie has, together with Professor Caroline Elkins, taught the special intensive course on business in Africa as part of the MBA program at Harvard Business School. In 2019 he accepted a part-time term appointment as a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School.
Belo-Osagie has an AB in politics, philosophy, and economics from Oxford University, a law degree from Cambridge University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
MYMA BELO-OSAGIE LLM ’78, SJD ’85

Myma Adwowa Belo-Osagie is partner emeritus (of counsel) in the law firm of Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie (UUBO), which she cofounded in 1985. Belo-Osagie has primarily focused on advising corporate clients, in particular international corporations establishing or restructuring (by way of mergers and acquisitions) businesses in Nigeria in the oil and gas, telecommunications, and general corporate sectors or corporations undertaking private equity investments. In addition, Belo-Osagie has participated in the drafting of various pieces of legislation, the most recent being the legislation that established Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.
As managing partner of UUBO, Belo-Osagie established the administrative foundations of the firm and spearheaded the growth of the firm from a two-partner, three-fee-earner partnership to an internationally regarded tier one law firm with three offices, five partners, and over 20 fee earners, placing UUBO within the top five law firms in Nigeria. More recently, as senior partner she supervised the strategic direction of the firm during its expansion to its current size of 13 partners and 50-plus fee earners. As partner emeritus (of counsel), she will maintain oversight of this process.
Belo-Osagie has previously served on a number of boards, including the board of FSDH Merchant Bank (Nigeria). Currently she sits on a number of corporate boards, including the boards of Africa Opportunity Fund, Boston Investments Ltd./Ghana Airport City Development Ltd., and African Fabric Holdings BV. She also serves as a trustee on the boards of a number of international and pan-African organizations, including the Corona Schools Trust Council (Nigeria), the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association (Nigeria), the advisory board of the African Leadership Academy (South Africa), the Dean’s Advisory Board of Harvard Law School, the advisory board of Harvard University’s Center for African Studies, the Growing Businesses Foundation (Nigeria), and the board of the African Wildlife Foundation (Kenya/U.S.A). In 2018, she was elected an international honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
A married mother of four, she is an avid supporter of Nigerian and Ghanaian art and artists and for many years supported an arts and business foundation intended to encourage Nigerian institutions to build their collections of Nigerian art.
She and her husband, Hakeem Belo-Osagie, support the annual Hakeem & Myma Belo-Osagie Distinguished African Business and Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, cohosted by the Harvard Center for African Studies and “Africa Rising: Understanding Business, Entrepreneurship, and the Complexities of a Continent,” a short immersion program at Harvard Business School.
She has an LLB from the University of Ghana, Legon, and an LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School.
LINCOLN E. BENET MBA ’89

Lincoln E. Benet MBA ’89 is the chief executive officer of Access Industries, a privately held industrial group founded by Len Blavatnik MBA ’89, with long-term holdings worldwide spanning natural resources and chemicals; technology, media, and telecom; and real estate. Prior to joining Access Industries in 2006, Benet was a managing director at Morgan Stanley, where he worked for 17 years in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, fixed income, and capital markets.
Benet is a board member of LyondellBasell Industries, Perform Group, and Warner Music Group.
Benet received an AB summa cum laude in economics from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
ELIF BILGI MBA ’94

Elif Bilgi Zapparoli MBA ’94 has been the cohead of Global Capital Markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch since June 2018. Bilgi Zapparoli joined the firm in 2010 as country executive of Turkey, headed CEEMEA Investment Banking and Global Sovereign Wealth Funds Coverage, and was named cohead of Asia Pacific Global Corporate & Investment Banking in 2016. Prior to that, she was the chairman of EFG Istanbul Securities, a company she founded.
In 2004, Bilgi Zapparoli was identified as one of the 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum.
Bilgi Zapparoli holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor of arts degree in economics and international relations from Brown University and the London School of Economics and Political Science. Bilgi Zapparoli served from 2009 to 2019 as a member of the Supervisory Board of OMV Aktiengesellschaft. She is a trustee at Robert College. Bilgi Zapparoli is on the Global Advisory Council of Harvard University.
LEN BLAVATNIK MBA ’89

Len Blavatnik MBA ’89 is the founder and chairman of Access Industries, a privately held industrial group with global strategic investments in natural resources and chemicals, media and telecommunications, venture capital, and real estate. Among its other investments, Access owns Warner Music Group, a leading global music company, and holds a significant stake in LyondellBasell Industries, the world’s third-largest independent chemical company.
An active philanthropist, Blavatnik and the Blavatnik Family Foundation support numerous leading educational, cultural, and charity institutions, including Tel Aviv University, Carnegie Hall, Tate, and Lincoln Center. In 2007, Blavatnik created the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists to acknowledge the excellence of exceptional young scientists and engineers in the U.S.; in 2017, the awards were expanded to encompass the U.K. and Israel. In 2010, Blavatnik established the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University. Blavatnik was knighted in the Queen's 2017 Birthday Honors for his services to philanthropy.
In 2013, the Blavatnik Family Foundation gave $50 million to Harvard University to launch a major initiative to expedite the development of basic science discoveries into breakthrough therapies for patients and cures for disease. The Blavatnik Biomedical Accelerator identifies early-stage, highly promising technologies and prepares them for licensing and commercial development. The gift also created the Blavatnik Fellowship in Life Science Entrepreneurship Program at Harvard Business School to provide MBA students with experience in life science entrepreneurship through exposure to the biomedical projects supported by the Accelerator.
In November 2018, the Foundation pledged $200 million to Harvard Medical School to accelerate the pace of therapeutic discovery and support initiatives aimed at solving some of humanity's most acute biomedical challenges. The gift, the largest in the School’s 236-year history, will help propel Harvard’s mission in transforming health through curiosity-driven research that stimulates the development of new therapies and tools to diagnose and prevent disease.
In April 2019, the Foundation pledged an additional $10 million to extend the existing Blavatnik HBS Biomedical Accelerator Fellowship Program through 2029.
Blavatnik studied as an undergraduate in Moscow and received a master’s degree in computer science from Columbia University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
BRIGITTE M. BREN

Brigitte Bren is an active director of the Irvine Company and a trustee of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where she cochaired its Break Through campaign, raising more than $3 billion for the institute. She served on Caltech’s executive committee and was chair of the nominating and governance committee. She is also an advisory board member of the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Previously, Bren’s professional experience included specializing in international affairs and entertainment law serving as of counsel to the law firm of Arter and Hadden. She was co-founder of International Strategic Planning Inc., a consulting firm focused on U.S. businesses in Western Europe and South America. She has also served as vice president of international sales and marketing at Mark Goodson Productions and produced several films.
Bren’s extensive past board experience includes serving as a trustee of the Los Angeles Museum of Art and director of prominent California-based organizations Think Together, the Public Policy Institute of California, and the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. She was also a director and chair of nominating and governance at Ambassadors International, a NASDAQ-traded company.

Jim Breyer is the founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a premier venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, CA. Breyer has been an early investor in over 40 technology companies that have completed highly successful public offerings or mergers. Headed by Breyer as a lead investor and director, many of these investments returned well over 100 times their cost, and over a dozen more have returned well over 25 times their cost. Breyer is also the co-chairman of IDG Capital, based in Beijing, with offices in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shanghai as well. Breyer currently serves on the board of directors of Blackstone (BX) and has previously served as an investor/lead director at Dell, Etsy, Facebook, Marvel Entertainment, 21st Century Fox, Walmart, and many other highly successful technology and media companies.
Breyer is currently the chairman of the advisory board at the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management. Gerald L. Chan SM ’75, SD ’79 is the cofounder of Morningside Group, a diversified investment group engaged in private equity and venture capital investments. Chan is a member of the Dean’s Board of Advisors of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, which was renamed in honor of his father, T.H. Chan, following a gift from the Morningside Foundation in 2014. He chairs the Innovation Advisory Committee of the Wellcome Trust and is a trustee of the Scripps Research Institute.
In recognition of Chan’s contribution to science and business, he was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Six universities have conferred on him honorary degrees. He holds honorary fellowships at Trinity College, Cambridge University, and Wolfson College, Oxford University. In 2019, he gave the Andrew Carnegie Lecture at the University of Glasgow and was awarded the President’s Medal of Excellence from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

In 1998, Dr. Charles Chen Yidan cofounded Tencent and served as chief administrative officer. In June 2007, Chen led Tencent to launch the Tencent Charity Foundation, the very first charity foundation in China’s internet industry, and has been the honorary Chairman of Tencent Charity Foundation ever since. After leaving office in 2013, he served as the lifetime honorary consultant of Tencent. She has served on the Ethics Committee of the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital and served as president and board member of the Jai Vakeel School for Children with Special Needs. Godrej has served as a board member for ICTPH, a public health organization committed to creating innovations to improve the access and quality of health care in rural India. She is currently a member of the Board of Advisors for the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health India Research Center in Mumbai, an executive board member of the Public Health Foundation of India and a trustee for the Foundation for Research in Community Health. She is a trustee at the Framjee Cawasjee Institute, an Indian philanthropic trust founded in 1862, which provides financial assistance to low-income students in schools and colleges supporting them in achieving their educational and professional goals.

Prior to this, she spent over 10 years as a senior expert for the Global Health Practice serving a range of international clients, including foundations, ministries of health, and the private sector on major global health initiatives. She has helped shape major efforts in vaccines, family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. She has worked as a physician and public health consultant in many country contexts, including the United States, Peru, Tanzania, India, Botswana, and Indonesia. She shared her experiences in global health delivery as an instructor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard College.
Gupta also thinks about how today’s education systems need to evolve for tomorrow’s talent. She enjoys meeting young people as an active alumni interviewer for Harvard College. Before joining FDA, Hamburg was founding vice president and senior scientist at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a foundation dedicated to reducing nuclear, chemical, and biological threats. Previous government positions include assistant secretary for planning and evaluation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; health commissioner for New York City; and assistant director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health.
As foreign secretary of the National Academy of Medicine, the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, Hamburg serves as senior advisor on international matters and is the liaison with other academies of medicine around the world. Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2012, she serves as a member of the Academy’s Trust. She chaired the American Ditchley Foundation from 2006 through 2010, and was elected a governor of the British Ditchley Foundation in 2010. In 2021, Ambassador Johnson, an owner of the New York Jets, resumed his duties as the team’s chairman and CEO. Under more than two decades of his leadership, the Jets have built a competitive team, a world-class training complex, and a 21st-century stadium hailed as one of the finest in the NFL. Johnson has also created the New York Jets Foundation to fund multiple programs supporting students and families in disadvantaged communities. Ambassador Johnson formerly served as a trustee and a trustee emeritus of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s largest philanthropic organization devoted exclusively to promoting health and health care for Americans. Born and raised in New York City, Suzanne Johnson has worked in finance, media, and entertainment in New York as well as Los Angeles. After graduating from Cornell University, Johnson worked at Bear Stearns and then later at Sandler O’Neill, serving as a senior managing director in both fixed income and institutional equity sales.
On September 11, Johnson was one of the only survivors on Sandler O’Neill’s Institutional Desk and played a large part in company outreach and rebuilding in the dark days following September 11.
Complementing the Johnson family ownership of the New York Jets NFL team, Suzanne served as a spokesperson for the National Football League’s women’s clothing and accessory campaign, as well as promoting this line in multimedia platforms ranging from print to live television interviews.
In June 2016, Johnson attended the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports program at Harvard Business School.
From 2016 through 2020, the Johnsons had the honor of serving their country when her husband, Robert Wood Johnson, was appointed the United States Ambassador to the Court of Saint James. This role was the greatest honor of their lives and involved hosting dignitaries, heads of state, and serving as a liaison between the United States and the United Kingdom. One highlight during their tenure in the U.K. was hosting Her Majesty the Queen for a formal dinner at Winfield House.
While living in New York City, Johnson was an active member of the Women’s Committee for the Central Park Conservancy. In this role, she helped raise funds for several key events, which help promote conservancy awareness and support Park projects.
Most recently, Johnson, who comes from a Ukrainian background, and her family have organized aid efforts for Ukraine. Their family visited Poland, which is the primary destination for Ukrainian refugees displaced by the war. While in Poland, they made visits to community shelters and orphanages housing Ukrainian refugees. The Johnson family has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the need for humanitarian aid to Ukraine and has urged the United States, the United Kingdom, and the rest of the world to take action and assist Ukraine.
In April 2022, the Jets pledged a $1 million donation to benefit ten Ukrainian organizations. Suzanne vetted and met with many of these organizations to best allocate these ten $100,000 donations. In August 2022, Suzanne, along with her 16-year-old son, Brick, worked with the Jets and announced plans to raise awareness for Ukraine’s humanitarian crisis during their Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This initiative includes placing Ukrainian flag decals on the player helmets, as well as placing both the American and Ukrainian flags in each end zone at MetLife Stadium. This outreach will be viewed by over 60,000 fans in the stadium as well as millions of viewers on national television.

Kralik has been based in China for nearly 30 years. He began his career at McKinsey & Company in 1986 and worked in North America and China before and after graduate school. In 1993, he founded a Hong Kong–based group of media companies operating throughout Greater China, and co-managed these businesses through their sale in 2001. From 2001 to 2004, Kralik was the chief executive officer of VTech Telecommunications Limited (0303.HK), leading the company through a financial turnaround.
While studying at Harvard Business School, Kralik was an economics tutor at Adams House. He also taught Harvard’s first-year economics course “Principles of Economics” and was awarded the Allyn A. Janice Lee AB ’94 is the author of the New York Times bestselling novels The Expatriates and The Piano Teacher, which received praise from numerous publications, including the New York Times Book Review, the New Yorker, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus Reviews. The Expatriates is being made into a television series by Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films and will air on Amazon Prime.
Lee has worked as an editor at Elle and Mirabella magazines in New York, and her writing has appeared in Elle, Mirabella, Glamour, and Travel + Leisure, among other magazines. She is a trustee of St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, and also serves on the board of Yaddo, the artist colony.

Kewsong Lee AB ’86, MBA ’90 is the chief executive officer of The Carlyle Group, chairman of its Executive Group, and was elected to the Board of Directors effective January 1, 2018.
Lee joined Carlyle in 2013 as deputy chief investment officer for Corporate Private Equity and, in 2016, he assumed the additional role of leading the Global Credit segment. Prior to joining Carlyle, Lee was a partner and a member of the Executive Management Group at Warburg Pincus, where he spent 21 years.
He is currently the president of Lincoln Center Theater, vice chairman for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce China Center, and a member of the Business Roundtable and Global Advisory Council of Harvard University. He also serves on the board of the US-China Business Council and FCLT Global, and is a trustee of the Center for Strategic and International Studies and an Executive Committee member of the Partnership for New York.
Lee has been married to his wife, Zita Ezpeleta AB ’88, JD ’91, for over 25 years and they have two adult children. He earned his AB in applied mathematics in economics at Harvard College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mie Kyung “Miky” Lee AM ’86, GSAS ’90 is vice chairman of CJ Group. In 1994 Lee, along with her brother, the chairman of CJ Group, founded the entertainment and media division of CJ after leading the company as one of the founding investors in DreamWorks SKG. Since then, CJ has built many influential companies in the Korean entertainment and media industry: CJ CGV, the first and largest multiplex chain in Korea; CJ Media, the leading cable network; and Mnet Media, Korea’s first and only “total music entertainment” company and leader in cable music television, music distribution, and live concerts.
Prior to joining CJ, Lee served as director of Samsung America, spearheading Samsung’s cultural and educational projects. She established the Parsons School of Design in Seoul for Samsung and oversaw the formation of a branch of Pasadena, California’s ArtCenter College of Design for Samsung employees.
At the Women’s World Awards in 2006, she was awarded the World Business Award for leading the largest entertainment group in Korea and for her global vision. Lee was also chosen by Variety in its Women’s Impact Report 2006 as one of the leading executives in the film industry. In 2007, she was the recipient of the CEO of the Year Award by the Korean Management Association in recognition of her role in making possible the thriving film industry in Korea.
Lee received an AB from Seoul National University and studied Chinese language and linguistics at National Taiwan University from 1981 to 1983. In 1984, she studied Japanese language at Keio University. She received an AM in Asian studies from Harvard University in 1986. At Harvard, she served for three years as a teaching fellow in Korean language. She also studied Chinese literature and history at Fudan University in China.

Mou-Shiung “M. S.” Lin SM ’78, PhD ’82 is the founder and chief executive officer of iCometrue Company Ltd. Previously, he served as vice president in the strategic IP division of Qualcomm; founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of the semiconductor company Megic Corporation from 1999 to 2006 and Megica Corporation from 2006 to 2009 (Megica was acquired by Qualcomm in 2009); president of WYSE Technology Taiwan Ltd. from 1997 to 1998; and fab director/R&D director of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) from 1990 to 1997. Prior to joining TSMC, Lin worked in the United States at AT&T Bell Laboratories and IBM.
Lin served as an adjunct professor at National Tsing Hua University from 1995 to 1997, co-organizing an interdisciplinary core course program of the semiconductor industry. Lin taught classes on very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuit systems while serving as an adjunct professor at National Chiao Tung University from 1992 to 1994 and at National Taiwan University from 1991 to 1992. He is an inventor or coinventor of over 300 U.S.-issued patents in the semiconductor field and has published more than 80 technical papers in international technical journals.
Lin received a PhD in applied physics from Harvard University in 1982 and was a visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) while a doctoral candidate. He received an SM from Harvard in 1978 and an SB in physics from National Taiwan University.

Yunli Lou AB ’91 is the founding partner and managing director of Milestone Capital Partners Limited. Founded in 2002, Milestone Capital is a leading China-focused private equity firm, investing in and supporting entrepreneurs in China’s high-growth industries. Milestone Capital currently manages three U.S. dollar funds, one RMB fund, and a permanent investment vehicle through the firm's offices in Beijing and Shanghai. Milestone Capital has invested and backed some of the leading Chinese companies in the e-commerce, media, food and beverage, sportswear, and health care sectors.
Prior to founding Milestone Capital, Lou worked at Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong.
Lou received an AB in economics from Harvard College, where she was the recipient of the John Harvard Scholarship. She is married to James C. Kralik AB ’86, MBA ’90, the managing director of Linden Street Capital Limited. They reside in Shanghai and have four children, ages 13 through 20.

Chile | Luksic Group
Andrónico Luksic is chairman of the board of directors of the Luksic Group’s holding company, Quiñenco S.A., Chile’s leading business conglomerate and the controlling entity of a number of industrial and service companies. He is also the vice chairman of the board of directors of Banco de Chile, the country’s leading financial institution.
Luksic is president of Compañía Cervecerías Unidas S.A. (CCU) and its subsidiary companies, CCU Chile and CCU Argentina. He is also vice president of Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores S.A. (CSAV) and a member of the boards of directors of Antofagasta Minerals plc, Nexans, and Invexans.
In Chile, Luksic founded and is president of three nonprofit organizations: Fundación Educacional Oportunidad, Fundación Amparo y Justicia, and Fundación Impulso Inicial. He is also a board member of the Chile Pacific Foundation.
Outside of Chile, Luksic is a member of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the mayor of Shanghai, the International Advisory Board of Barrick Gold, the International Advisory Council of the Brookings Institution, the Chairman’s International Advisory Council at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, and a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Panama Canal Authority.
Consistent with his commitments to education, Luksic is also a founding member of the Harvard Global Advisory Council and the Columbia University World Projects Advisory Council, as well as the International Advisory Boards of the Fudan University School of Management and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. He is also a trustee emeritus at Babson College, as well as a member of the Americas Executive Board at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, and the Latin America Advisory Board of Harvard Business School.
In addition to these endeavors, Luksic is an accomplished mountaineer, having climbed to the summit of Mount Everest in May 2004. In December 2005, he completed his quest for the “Seven Summits of the World” by climbing to the summit of the highest peak on each of the seven continents.

Michael Lynton AB ’82, MBA ’87 served as CEO of Sony Entertainment from April 2012 to February 2017, overseeing Sony’s global entertainment businesses, including Sony Music Entertainment, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. From January 2004, Lynton also served as chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Prior to joining Sony Pictures, he worked for Time Warner and served as CEO of AOL Europe, president of AOL International, and president of Time Warner International. Previously, he served as chairman and CEO of Penguin Group, owned by Pearson plc, where he oversaw the acquisition of Putnam Inc. and extended the Penguin brand to music and the internet.
Lynton currently serves on the boards of Snap Inc., IEX, and Ares Management LP. Scott D. Malkin AB ’80, MBA ’83, JD ’84 is the founder and chairman of S.D. Malkin Properties, a specialist real estate development company focusing on retail-led experiential projects in the United States and Europe. He is also the founder and chairman of Value Retail PLC, cofounder and chairman of Value Retail China, and managing partner of the New York Islanders.
Malkin is a member of Harvard Medical School’s Global Health and Service Advisory Council; the Massachusetts General Hospital President’s Council; and the advisory boards of the Tobin Project, Tompkins Conservation, Columbia Global Centers, Paris, and the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. José Roberto Marinho studied history at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro and geography at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University. He began his career in 1972 as a reporter for O Globo newspaper, and in 1981 he became an assistant editor. In May 1983, he was appointed deputy editorial chief, a role he held for a year, when he left the newspaper to become FM programming director of Sistema Globo de Rádio.
In 1992, he founded Acqua Institute, a non-governmental organization focusing on the preservation of water resources. José Roberto is a board member of Grupo Globo and chairs Grupo Globo’s social responsibility committee. He serves as a member of the governance committee of Juntos pelo Desenvolvimento Sustentável–Comunitas (Together for Sustainable Development), the Ethos Institute for Business and Social Responsibility, the board of curators of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra Foundation, the board of Rare, and the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development. José Roberto is president of the Roberto Marinho Foundation.
In 2006, he took part in the founding of the All for Education movement, of which he is a member of the governance board. Scott Mead AB ’77 is a photographer, philanthropist, and investor.
Mead was a partner at Goldman Sachs and began his investment banking career in New York, relocating to London in 1987. He retired from Goldman Sachs in 2003 and later was a founding partner of Richmond Park Partners LLP in London and senior advisor at Apax Partners.
In the mid-1970s, while at Harvard, Mead studied photography under renowned photographers William Eggleston and Emmet Gowin and had various exhibitions. Following his time at Goldman Sachs, he returned to photography, and in 2010 he had a solo exhibition, Looking Back, at Hamiltons Gallery in London, producing a book of the same name. Mead’s work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition from 2011 to 2017 and in 2019. He was profiled on the BBC’s The Culture Show in connection with one of his entries. All proceeds from the sale of his work are donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where one of his children was cured of a life-threatening illness as a baby. Mead’s most recent book, Above the Clouds, was published by Prestel in September 2017, and a solo exhibition of the same name took place at Hamiltons Gallery in 2018. He plans to publish Equivalents next year.
Through the Mead Family Foundation, of which he is founder and chairman, Mead is involved with a number of institutions focused on education, health care, and the arts. He is a former Elected Director of the Harvard Alumni Association and has served on many Harvard visiting committees and task forces. He was a charter trustee of Phillips Academy Andover and has held various roles with the University of Cambridge. He is a governor of the University of the Arts London (the largest arts university in Europe).
Mead is a member of the executive committee of the Tate Foundation and sits on the Global Advisory Council of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour, where he was centrally involved in achieving equal prize money for women. He previously served in a similar capacity for the men’s tennis tour.
He was a trustee of the International Center of Photography in New York and was a trustee and the former chair of the Photographers’ Gallery in London, the largest publicly funded photography gallery in Europe. Among other appointments, he served for five years on the board of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.

NIKHIL MESWANI
India | Reliance Industries
Nikhil R. Meswani is a chemical engineer and the son of Rasiklal Meswani, one of the founding directors of Reliance Industries Limited. He joined Reliance in 1986, and since July 1, 1988, he has been a whole-time director, designated as executive director, on the board of the company. He is primarily responsible for the petrochemicals division and has made major contributions toward Reliance becoming a global leader in petrochemicals. Between 1997 and 2005, he handled the refinery business of the company. In addition, he continues to shoulder several other corporate responsibilities, such as corporate affairs and group taxation. He is also involved in the affairs of Reliance-owned IPL cricket franchise Mumbai Indians and other sports initiatives of the company. A former president of the Association of Synthetic Fibre Industry, Nikhil Meswani was also the youngest chairman of the Asian Chemical Fibre Industries Federation. He is a member of the Board of Trade of India’s Ministry of Commerce. He is also a managing committee member of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
He has been honored by the Institute of Economic Studies, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and the Textile Association (India) for the Ministry of Textiles. He has also been honored by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for his distinguished contribution to the petrochemicals industry. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005 and remains an active participant in the activities of the forum. He is also a member of the new Senior Advisory Board for South Asia at the forum. For several consecutive years, ICIS, a leading chemical industry magazine, has ranked Nikhil Meswani among the Top 40 Global Power Players in the chemical industry.
He is a member of the Global Advisory Council at Harvard University. He is a member of the Visiting Committee of the dean for engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, and a distinguished alumnus of the same.

Rakuten has a dynamic ecosystem of more than 70 services, spanning e-commerce, fintech, digital content, and communications, bringing the joy of discovery to more than 1.2 billion members across the world. Rakuten is also preparing to become Japan’s newest mobile network operator in 2019.
In July 2017, Rakuten became the Main Global Partner and first-ever Global Innovation and Entertainment Partner of one of the world’s most admired soccer clubs, FC Barcelona, and in September of the same year, it became the first-ever jersey partner of the Golden State Warriors.
Born in Kobe, Japan, Mikitani was educated at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, began his career in investment banking, and earned his MBA at Harvard Business School. In 2012, he was awarded the HBS Alumni Achievement Award, one of the School’s highest honors.
Mikitani is also a recipient of the Legion of Honor, awarded by the French government in recognition of contributions to the economy and culture of France. In 2011, he was appointed chairman of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, which has the longest history and tradition of any orchestra in Japan, and he serves as representative director of the Japan Association of New Economy (JANE). In 2015, Mikitani was appointed as board director at Lyft Inc. In 2016, he was appointed chairman and director of Rakuten Medical Inc. Karen Gordon Mills served in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet as the administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA; 2009–13) and was a member of the President’s National Economic Council. At SBA, she led a team of more than 3,000 employees and managed a loan guarantee portfolio of over $100 billion. At the height of the Great Recession, she took steps that led to record-breaking years for SBA lending and investments in growth capital. Additionally, Mills’s efforts helped small businesses create regional economic clusters, gain access to early-stage capital, boost exports, and tap into government and commercial supply chains.
Mills is a senior fellow at both Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School and a leading authority on U.S. competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and innovation. She is the author of the book Fintech, Small Business & the American Dream and other publications, including the report "Growth and Shared Prosperity."
Mills is a venture capitalist; the vice chair of Envoy, an immigration services provider; and a director of Churchill Capital Corp. She also serves in leadership roles for several policy organizations, including chair of the advisory committee for the Private Capital Research Institute, co-chair of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Task Force on Main Street Finance, and member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Aditya Mittal is the president and CFO of ArcelorMittal. As CFO of Mittal Steel, he initiated and led Mittal Steel’s offer for Arcelor to create the world’s largest steel company. In 2008, Mittal was named “European Business Leader of the Future” by CNBC Europe, and he was ranked fourth in Fortune magazine’s "40 Under 40" list in 2011.
Mittal serves on the boards of Aperam and Iconiq Capital, and is chairman of India’s second largest oil refinery, HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL). He is also a trustee at the Brookings Institution and an alumni of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders program. With a dedicated interest in philanthropy, he and his wife, Megha, are significant supporters of the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London, and are also heavily involved in children’s health care in India. He is a keen surfer and tennis player.

Lakshmi Mittal is chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s leading steel and mining company with operations in more than 60 countries. He founded Mittal Steel (formerly LNM Group) in 1976, and guided its strategic development, culminating in the merger with Arcelor in 2006 that created ArcelorMittal. In 2016, ArcelorMittal had revenues of $56.8 billion.
Mittal is a member of various boards and trusts, including chairman of the board of Aperam and a member of the board of Goldman Sachs. He is a member of the Foreign Investors’ Council in Kazakhstan; the global CEO council of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC); the European Round Table of Industrialists; the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council; the World Steel Association’s executive committee; the governing board of ISB (Indian School of Business); the chairman of the governing council of LNMIIT (LNM Institute of Information Technology); and a member of the board of trustees of Cleveland Clinic.
Mittal’s business achievements have been recognized by numerous institutions and renowned bodies. In the United Kingdom, they have supported the construction of a new building, the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, at London’s renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital. They have also been involved in the field of sports, having set up the Mittal Champions Trust to identify and train promising sporting talent in India. Sunil Bharti Mittal is the founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s first-generation corporations, with interests in Telecom, Space, Insurance, Real Estate, Hospitality, and Food. Bharti has joint ventures with several global leaders: SingTel, SoftBank, AXA, Del Monte, and the U.K. government, amongst others.
Bharti Airtel, the flagship company of Bharti Enterprises, is a global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across South Asia and Africa. The company ranks amongst the top three mobile operators globally and covers a population of over two billion. Airtel is India’s largest integrated telecom provider and the second-largest mobile operator in Africa. At the end of March 2021, Airtel had over 470 million customers across its operations.
Bharti Global in partnership with the U.K. government recently acquired OneWeb—a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. This new-age space initiative will provide high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity in the deep rural, maritime, aviation, and defense sector across the globe by 2022. Mittal is the executive chairman of OneWeb.
Mittal is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors, awarded to individuals for demonstrating distinguished services of high order. He has also been awarded Harvard Business School’s Alumni Achievement Honor—the utmost honor accorded by the institute to its alumni. He is the recipient of GSMA’s prestigious Chairman’s award, besides being decorated with numerous industry honors. Mittal has been conferred honorary doctorates by several leading universities in India and Europe.
Mittal serves on many international bodies and think tanks. He served as the chairman of international Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the chairman of GSM Association (GSMA) concurrently from 2016 to 2018. He was a trustee at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) from 2009 to 2021. Deeply associated with the cause of education, Mittal is on Harvard University’s Global Advisory Council and has served on the board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School.
Mittal believes that a responsible corporation has a duty to give back to the community in which it operates. This belief has resulted in Bharti Foundation, which operates more than 180 Satya Bharti Schools as well as supports over 790 government schools to ensure holistic education. Over 450,000 underprivileged children in rural India have benefitted from the programs of Bharti Foundation since its inception. Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani MPA ’82, GSAS ’88 is executive chairman of the board of directors of DNO ASA, a publicly listed Norwegian oil and gas company whose primary business is exploration and production in the Middle East and North Africa regions. He is also chairman of the board and chief executive officer of RAK Petroleum plc, an energy investment company.
Mossavar-Rahmani serves concurrently as chairman of the board of directors of Foxtrot International LDC, a privately held Franco-American oil and gas company active in West Africa. He was founder and first chief executive of Apache International Inc.
In addition to his industry positions, Mossavar-Rahmani is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and chairman of its Audit Committee and a director of the Persepolis Foundation. He has published more than 10 books and dozens of articles on global energy markets and was decorated a Commandeur de l’Ordre National de la Côte d’Ivoire for services to the energy sector of that country.

Prior to joining the firm, Sharmin worked at Fidelity Management Trust Company, where she was chief investment officer for all separate and co-mingled fixed income accounts.

Precious Moloi-Motsepe is the cofounder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation and chief executive of African Fashion International.
Through the Motsepe Foundation, she has initiated projects in education and leadership; sports, music, and the arts; community development; a Centre for Gender Equality, Wellness and Leadership; and works with stakeholders and governments on initiatives to promote social cohesion.
Internationally, she is a partner to the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship to advance the social entrepreneurship agenda in Africa and the Milken Institute to invest in global innovators and entrepreneurs who are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. She is also the cocreator of the Motsepe Presidential Research Accelerator Fund at the Harvard University Center for African Studies, which supports faculty-led and student-driven research projects that focus on advancing key challenges and opportunities facing Africa.
A medical doctor by training, she established one of the first holistic women’s clinics in Johannesburg in 1993. With a focused interest in improving the lives of marginalized women and youth, she established African Fashion International in 2007. The first platform to promote pan-African fashion designers, she has grown to represent over 200 designers. With a global reach, she also works with young design graduates, including a few who have since become internationally recognized. In 2017, she became the first recipient of the Fashion 4 Development Franca Sozzani Award for her promotion of African designers and support for women artisans, and in 2022 she was recognized by Credit Suisse as a Woman of Impact for her diverse roles.
She is a board member at the Milken Institute Center for Strategic Philanthropy and the International Women’s Forum of South Africa, advisor to the Global Fashion Agenda’s Copenhagen Fashion Summit, and chair of the South African Universities Chancellors Forum since she became chancellor of the University of Cape Town in 2020.

Under his leadership, the company has completed over $60 billion in strategic transactions. Previously, Narasimhan was global head of drug Development and chief medical officer for Novartis. Prior to that, he held a range of leadership roles in product development and general management, such as global head of Development for Novartis Pharmaceuticals, global head of the Sandoz Biopharmaceuticals and Oncology Injectables business unit, global head of Development for Novartis Vaccines, North America region head for Novartis Vaccines, and United States country president for Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics.
During his career at Novartis, Narasimhan has overseen the licensure of over 20 novel medicines, including advanced cell and gene therapies as well as vaccines. Before joining Novartis in 2005, he briefly worked in management consulting. Kennedy School of Government, and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Chicago. Otto is initiator and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lebendige Stadt Foundation, which promotes the revitalization of European inner cities. He is chairman of the Global Cinema Federation (GCF), the Morelia International Film Festival, and Mexicanos Primero, an initiative to raise the quality of education in Mexico. Robert E. "Bob" Rubin AB ’60 serves as senior counselor for Centerview Partners, a global investment banking advisory firm with offices in New York, London, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Rubin is a former secretary of the Treasury. He joined the Clinton administration in 1993, serving as assistant to the president for economic policy and the first director of the National Economic Council. He was named treasury secretary in 1995 and served until 1999. Rubin joined Goldman Sachs & Company in 1966 and served as co-chairman from 1990 to 1992. In June 2017, Rubin concluded his 10-year term as co-chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations but still serves as co-chairman emeritus. He is chairman of the board of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the nation’s leading community development support organization. He also serves on the board of Mount Sinai Health System. In June 2014, he completed a 12-year term as a member of the Harvard Corporation. Ryan began his professional career in 1989 with Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was a financial analyst. After two years on Wall Street, he moved to Moscow in the early 1990s, during the chaotic early days of privatization, and went on to become an investment banker and venture capitalist specializing in Russia. From 1991 to 1994, he was an associate and principal banker with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, where he played a crucial role in the city of Saint Petersburg’s privatization program for industry and real estate.
In 1994, Ryan cofounded United Financial Group (UFG), an independent investment bank in Moscow. In 2005, when Deutsche Bank acquired 100 percent of UFG’s investment banking business, Ryan was appointed chief country officer and chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank Group in Russia. In October 2008, he stepped down as chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank and became chairman of UFG Asset Management, an alternative asset manager in Russia. In addition to his role as chairman, he is also responsible for the overall management of UFG’s private equity business. Ryan moved back to the United States in 2008 with his family.
In 2013, Ryan cofounded Liberty Energy Trust, Liberty Infrastructure Trust (Conshohocken, Pennsylvania), which provides innovative solutions for financing and managing energy-related and infrastructure projects in Pennsylvania and the Eastern United States. It currently executes $500 million projects ranging from LNG, gas distribution, and CHPs to port development.

From 2005 to 2010, Sudireddy served as chairman of the board at Sanovi Technologies, which provides disaster recovery and business continuity software for enterprise customers. The company was sold to IBM. He later founded CHiL Semiconductor, which was acquired by International Rectifier in 2011. Recently he founded a company called Bento.net to provide affordable oral health access to millions of Americans. Bento is an alternative to dental insurance.

Born in Beijing in 1965, Zhang moved to Hong Kong at the age of 14, where she worked as a factory girl for five years. Determined to pursue higher education, she made her way to England, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Sussex and a master’s degree in development economics from Cambridge University. After working in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and Travelers Group, she returned to Beijing to cofound SOHO China with her husband, Pan Shiyi. In 2007, SOHO China was successfully listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, raising proceeds of $1.9 billion, Asia’s largest commercial real estate IPO at that time.

Marjorie Yang is the chairman of Esquel Group and serves as chairman of the Seoul International Business Advisory Council (SIBAC), with the purpose of providing advice to the mayor of Seoul. She is also the appointed representative of Hong Kong, China, to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and a member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development, a high-level body that advises the chief executive on Hong Kong’s future development and strategies for driving innovation. She served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from 2003 to 2018.
Yang is dedicated to promoting education and innovative technologies. She is the co-chair of the advisory board of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the chairperson of the steering committee of CoolThink@JC, which was created and is funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. She also serves as a member of various advisory boards, including Harvard University, Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, and Guilin Tourism University. She was the chairman of the council of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for six years until 2015.
Yang is a strong believer in sustainable development and environmental conservation and serves on the advisory council for the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) and Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in China.

Xiang-Dong (X.D.) Yang is a managing director and chairman of Carlyle Asia, leading all corporate private equity investments in Asia (ex-Japan). He joined Carlyle in 2001 as a cohead of the Asia buyout advisory team. Carlyle has been investing in Asia for nearly two decades and is one of the largest private equity investors in Asia. Carlyle Asia has invested over $14.5 billion in more than 145 companies in corporate private equity and has current assets under management of more than $12 billion. Yang is based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Carlyle, Yang spent nine years at Goldman Sachs, where he was a managing director and cohead of Private Equity Investment Asia ex-Japan. Yang received his AB in economics from Harvard University and MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a native of China.

Siddharth Yog MBA ’04 is the founding partner of the Xander Group Inc., an investment firm headquartered in Singapore. Yog has been involved in all aspects of development of the firm since founding it in 2005. He chaired the investment committee for Xander Investment Management, the firm’s private equity arm, until September 2016, and until December 2014 he was the chair of the credit committee for Xander Finance, the firm’s Indian nonbank finance subsidiary. He is currently building Yuj Ventures, the group’s early stage investing platform. Xander has $3 billion assets under management across private equity funds, managed accounts, direct public and private investments, and partnerships.
In 2007, Yog founded Virtuous Retail and currently serves as chairman of Virtuous Retail South Asia Pte. Ltd., its Singapore-based joint venture with a leading European pension fund that has designed, developed, owns, and operates a portfolio of 10 million square feet of community-focused shopping centers in India.
Yog received an MBA with highest distinction from Harvard Business School and was elected a Baker Scholar. He was also elected president of his class. Earlier, he earned an honors degree in economics from the University of Delhi and was elected head of the Students Union.
From 2014 to 2019, Yog served on the faculty of Harvard Business School. As senior lecturer of Business Administration, he designed and taught an MBA elective on investing in emerging markets. He is also cofounder and member of the governing body of the liberal arts–focused, not-for-profit Ashoka University in India, a member of the board of trustees of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T) in Cambridge, and a member of the Lincoln Center Global Council in New York.

Jianming Yu PhD ’98 is the cofounder and managing partner of New Horizon Capital. Founded in 2005, New Horizon Capital is a private equity firm with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Since 2015, Yu has founded two parallel funds, Redview Capital and Advantech Capital, with a primary focus on investing in the consumer sector and TMT and health care, respectively. Prior to founding New Horizon, Yu worked at McKinsey and several Beijing-based investment firms. In addition to his PhD in biology from Harvard, Yu holds an MBA in finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an SB from Tsinghua University.
Yu is married to Kate Li and has two children. The family resides in both Palo Alto, CA, and Beijing

Paolo Zapparoli MBA ’94 leads 92 Ventures, a family office investing in private and public investments and real estate.
Prior to 92 Ventures, Zapparoli was principal and chief executive officer of Synergo SGR SpA., a private equity firm investing with Italian entrepreneurs. Zapparoli managed Synergo from 2006 until the end of 2016.
Prior to joining Synergo, Zapparoli was with AIG Capital Partners, which he joined in 1999. He initially served as the chief executive officer of AIG Blue Voyage Fund and then as a managing director at AIG Capital Partners in New York.
In 1996, Zapparoli established the Istanbul office of Bain-Cuneo, a management consulting company. He went on to develop Bain-Cuneo’s office into Turkey’s second-largest management consulting business in the country.
Prior to that, he held other positions, including serving as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in New York from 1994 to 1996; as assistant brand manager at Procter & Gamble in Rome from 1990 to 1992; and as a research and development engineer at Telettra, Milano, and Granger Telettra in Santa Clara, California, from 1988 to 1990.
In addition to his MBA from Harvard Business School, Zapparoli has a degree in electrical engineering summa cum laude from Polytechnic University of Milan and a graduate degree in digital signal processing from Cefriel Graduate School of Milan.

Zhengdong Zhu is cofounder, chairman of the board, and chief executive officer of China Distance Education Holdings Limited (CDEL). He is responsible for overall management operations and strategic decisions. He founded CDEL in 2000 and is the pioneer of China’s distance education industry. CDEL’s mission is to be the premier lifelong, comprehensive online education partner for working professionals and others in China, and to spearhead the development of distance education across China. The company’s annual enrollment is over three million, covering the areas of accounting, health care, engineering and construction, law, and other professions.
Zhu received a bachelor’s degree in radio engineering in 1989 from Southeast University in China. In 2011, he received an MBA from Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.

Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II is the chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, one of the largest business groups in the Philippines, with interests in real estate, banking, telecommunications, water, power, industrial technologies, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Outside the Ayala group, he is a member of various business and socio-civic organizations in the Philippines and abroad, including the JP Morgan International Council, JP Morgan Asia Pacific Council, and Mitsubishi Corporation International Advisory Council.
He sits on the board of the Singapore Management University and on various advisory boards of Harvard University, including the Global Advisory Council, HBS Board of Dean’s Advisors, and HBS Asia-Pacific Advisory Board, which he chairs. He is chairman emeritus of the Asia Business Council, and was the Philippine representative to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council from 2010–15.
He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit in 2009, the Philippine Legion of Honor with the rank of Grand Commander in 2010, and the Order of Mabini with the rank of Commander in 2015 by the President of the Philippines. In 2017, he was recognized as a United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Pioneer for his work in sustainable business strategy and operations. The first SDG Pioneer from the Philippines, he was one of 10 individuals recognized for championing sustainability and the pursuit of the 17 SDGs in business.
