The Alumnae/i Network for Harvard Women (ANHW) cordially invites you to our reunion event. While our goal is to provide opportunities for networking and a platform from which to address issues of particular concern to women in the Harvard community and beyond, our current focus is on exploring greater prevention of gender discrimination and violence at the University and the forging of new bonds that will lead to additional progress for all members of the Harvard community. We also want to explore how some members of the community may feel marginalized by the intersectionality of gender, ethnicity, and race. With survivors of gender violence in mind, we have established a new Reunion Schedule event called Surviving Silence, this year on Saturday, May 31st, from 3-5 pm at the Harvard College Women's Center in Canaday B Basement. All are welcome. The event opens with a panel discussion with Pierre Berastain AB ’10, MDV ’14; Mia Karvonides, JD, Harvard University Title IX Officer; Wendy Murphy, JD, impact litigation specialist in the area of women's rights; and "Title IX Godmother” Bernice Sandler (panelists as of 5/20/14). The second part of the program will be personal and private time without panelists, providing space to dialogue on issues and personal stories, facilitated by Shana Natelson of Speak About It. Those who cannot attend but would like to tell their story anonymously or not are invited to visit www.survivingsilence.org. For more information, visit www.harvardwomen.net. Please also visit Harvard’s Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Violence website (http://sexualviolencetaskforce.harvard.edu/contact-us), where alumni can confidentially share their stories and comments with Alicia Oeser, the Director for the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (OSAPR).
