X is for edX
The Game: Harvard-Yale A to Z
One hundred six years after the introduction of the forward pass, Harvard has teamed with MIT to introduce an academic game changer: edX.
Launched in May, edX is a not for profit joint venture of Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The program offers classes from the founding universities' course catalogue and from the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Texas system, which have since partnered with edX. The courses are delivered entirely online via an open enrollment system.
In October, edX launched it's first two Harvard courses, Computer Science 50x, Introduction to Computer Science, and Public Health 207X, Health in Numbers: Quantitative Methods in Clinical and Public Health Research, with a combined enrollement of more than 100,000 students.
